Berdande’s Pack

Berdande began her travels with a Solar Circle after tracking a Dragon-Blooded and her pack for several days.

Arashi

She took an immediate liking to the Dawn Caste Solar Arashi, her impression of Solars before then was based entirely on lore she had read and stories she had heard, it never occurred to her that there could be barbarians among the Solars. It is because of this that she feels the closest kinship to Arashi. That is not to say she views him as a true barbarian. While she greatly enjoys battling by his side, she dislikes his gluttonous behavior and feels he is too reliant on the corrupt trappings of civilization.

Quietus

Berdande is deeply religious and respects Quietus’ choice to become a monk (even if it is not in service of Luna, which Berdande recognizes as the only god worth worship). It is because of this that she gives him quite a bit of leeway. Quietus wants to help everyone, he wants to heal instead of maim, build instead of destroy, it drives Berdande nuts. Ultimately his altruistic nature only seems to garner her pack more trouble, Berdande has no stomach for charity.

Kolon

Berdande’s eyes go cross when she thinks of Kolon. He seems to know everything; this both impresses and annoys Berdande. While she wishes he would be more forthcoming with information, she senses no deception in him so she never holds his mysterious knowledge against him. Of all the Solars in her pack, Kolon stinks of civilization the most, it is because of this Berdande keeps him at a deliberate distance.

Riki

As far as Berdande is concerned Riki is out of control. The only thing more out of control than Riki is Riki and Arashi. While she is quite impressed by his prowess and style in battle, she would never consider him worthy of barbarian ways. She is sometimes annoyed, sometimes amused by his near preternatural ability to find trouble.

Millena

You would think Berdande would be happy to meet another sorceress but instead she’s quite disturbed by it. To Berdande, Millena is the path of ruin for a sorceress, ensnared by the temptations of civilization, she learns from books rather than battle. In Berdande’s eyes Millena is a slave to her former self and will eventually fall prey to the corruptions of the Realm.

Mahina

As if being Dragon-Blooded wasn’t enough, Mahina is weak even for one of her kind. When Berdande first meets Mahina the poor girl has lost her mind, such a loss of control is disgusting to Berdande (especially considering that Berdande faced the ravages of the Wyld & survived with her wits intact). Mahina’s presence in the pack is offensive to Berdande & she only tolerates the Dragon-Blooded girl for the sake of her pack, which seem to like the Dragon-Blooded for reasons beyond Berdande’s understanding.

Berdande’s Elder’s

Seven Devil Clever

Berdande’s mistress, in many ways a mother figure (Berdande never knowing her real mother). It was Seven Devil Clever who found Berdande after her Exaltation and taught her the ways of the No Moon. While Berdande honors her mistress as she is expected and required to, she is a rebellious child by nature and has lately become more and more distant to her mistress almost to the point of being disrespectful. So far Seven Devil Clever has been very lenient with Berdande, allowing her to travel with a Solar circle and tolerating her bold visit to The Nameless Layer of Ma-Ha-Suchi. Part of Berdande’s attitude can be attributed to their differing opinions on the Realm. Berdande despises the Realm & all that civilized society stands for (in her mind: slavery, gluttony, corruption… really don’t get her started on this one). Seven Devil Clever is obviously no friend of the Realm but has lived in cities and takes to the urban sprawl with relative ease, which makes Berdande uneasy. She can ‘t understand why a barbarian would willingly live in civilization.

Ma-Ha-Suchi

Berdande traveled to The Nameless Layer of Ma-Ha-Suchi to seek the elder Lunar’s council and assistance. Berdande is deeply grateful to Ma-Ha-Suchi for not killing her. Beyond her obvious reverence for one of her elders, Berdande has what could accurately be described as an intense infatuation on Ma-Ha-Suchi. Seeing him as a personification of her desired mate: a barbarian untainted by civilization, stronger than her, wiser than her and most importantly in complete control of his power. Though she is probably too prideful to serve him, that hasn‘t stopped her from having the occasional daydream where they crush the degenerate cities of the Realm side by side.

Berdande and other Lunars

Even though Berdande is quite young she is treated with respect by other Lunars. As a No Moon she is honored as exceptional simply because she has successfully passed the No Moon trials (every Lunar knows the challenge that entails). But even for a No Moon Berdande is especially recognized. Part of this is because Berdande is not even a little territorial, an uncommon trait among her kind. Many speak of the fabulous hospitality of her tribes and of the generosity of Berdande herself. She treats almost all her Lunar kin as honored friends and will not hesitate to rush to their side for aid or battle. Even to those few Lunar who are not currently in her favor she still will offer a warm smile and help if need be. She has never been known to partake in the chest thumping that other Lunars enjoy so much, choosing to live as a nomad.

Berdande isn’t so very considerate to her kin because she is weak however. Berdande is a fierce barbarian and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by even the Lunar elders. There is no doubt that if pushed Berdande would not hesitate to push back and one might be surprised to find how many would rise to her aid.

Berdande and the rest of Creation

Sidereals

When it comes to the secretive and distant Sidereals her feelings are mixed. In a way she respects their choice to bring down the corrupt rulers of the First Age and yet they have become the instruments of a new type of corruption. Worse yet they scheme behind closed doors and promote a false religion. Berdande will treat any Sidereal she meets with suspicion and regard even the most revered Sidereal with little respect.

Dragon-Blooded

Her war is on civilization, so her war is with the Dragon-Blooded. During her training as a No Moon Berdande was taught at length of the Perfected Hierarchy and the houses of the Dynasty. She found it all incredibly dull and unnecessary. She sees the Dragon-Blooded as no better than the corrupt Solars they supplanted and considers them an obstacle to her people’s happiness. Berdande has nothing but contempt for Dragon-Blooded and has a hard time tolerating their presence.

Abyssals

Her understanding of the Abyssal Exalted is limited. As a sorceress she is fascinated by the skills of necromancy and wishes to learn more. Trusting an Abyssal is out of the question though. In Berdande’s eyes all Abyssals are slaves to the Deathlords and she will not trust her destiny to ones that have no control over their own. Berdande will regard all Abyssal Exalts she meets with a wary eye but she is unlikely to challenge one until she has learned more about them.
